GAB brings plight of boxing to IATF’s attention

By Nick Giongco The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) called on the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to hear out the call of the professional boxing community to stage shows while strictly observing safety guidelines. GAB chairman Baham Mitra told the IATF that boxing has returned in the US and that the local scene is raring to follow the lead of Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum in Las Vegas amid COVID-19. “I explained to them that our stakeholders depend on it for their livelihood” unlike those in the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), whose athletes receive a monthly allowance from the government.
